Legal protection through our $2,000,000 liability insurance plan: AAE sponsored coverage is actually broader in some areas than the standard coverage offered by the unions.

A subscription to "Education Matters": This easy-to-read and right-to-the-point newsletter keeps you informed on key issues in education with a refreshing perspective that, quite frankly, you will not likely find in most of the union-affiliated or education establishment publications that proliferate today. In recent months, our members have enjoyed articles on "The Phenomenon of Grade Inflation in Higher Education," "Why Educational Innovations Come and Go," "A Charter School Success Story in the Making," "Explicit Phonics...What It Is and What It Isn't," "Reinventing Special Education," "Empowering Teachers to do Assessment," and "The Three Reasons We Must Teach History."

Optional supplementary insurance plans: Save money on additional insurance plans including Life, Auto, and Professional Liability through our insurance administrator Forrest T. Jones & Company, Inc.

Free or low cost in-service training workshops: As a member, you'll be invited to attend our outstanding workshops. These workshops are held across the country and are provided as a member benefit, usually free of charge for members. Titles of previous workshops have included: "The Big 'R' Responsibility," "Update on IDEA," "NCLB-Will You Qualify?" and "Participation In Teacher Unions: Your Rights, Responsibilities, and Options."

An opportunity to have your opinions and voice heard: Each year you will be invited to participate in AAE National Membership Surveys. Your ideas, priorities, and perspectives are then supplied to the national media, educational policy makers, and the U.S. Congress. U.S. Senator Charles Grassley from Iowa recently told us, "I was pleased to review your membership survey, which demonstrates significant policy differences with the unions. I didn't know there were teachers who think like you do. We only get one side of the story here in Washington."
