On the Road at ISTE
posted by: Jill | June 29, 2011, 06:18 PM

I'm on the road this week in the city of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, for the annual ISTE conference (International Society for Technology in Education). I'm up to my ears in ed tech and loving it.

jill at isteLet me share three fun finds for teachers which I have already integrated into my life since being here.

  • Symbaloo- visual bookmarking; I will remember all of my bookmarks from now on! It's free.
  • Edmodo-Facebook for education. All of the benefits of Facebook with none of the worries. It was created for teachers and students. It's free.
  • Poll Everywhere- receive immediate feedback from your students by having them text the answers to surveys, quizzes, whatever you want. And receive the answers immediately into your account. It's free.

This is present day. I'm so glad that they refer the 2011 Horizon Report which discusses six technologies/practices that will most likely be mainstream within five years. The top two to be implemented within the next 12 months? Mobile Computing and Open Content. We are so lucky to be in education during this time of rapid innovation in education- and so much of it is free!

I've got to get back to my cheesesteak and afternoon workshop. I <3 ed tech. I <3 Philadelphia.
