Association of American Educators Recognizes Teacher Appreciation Week

Alexandria, VA – Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6, 2016) is in full swing and National Teacher Day is today! Thousands of advocates from across the country are honoring local teachers and acknowledging the role they play in making sure every student receives a quality education.

In honor of this important week, Association of American Educators Chairman and President Gary Beckner released the following statement:

“America’s teachers are true heroes who influence students in our nation’s classrooms every day. Showing our appreciation to this dedicated workforce shouldn’t be limited to this week and day. We need to work together to acknowledge the significant contributions our teachers make on our society as a whole. Their role is incredibly valuable.

We want to thank teachers for all they do to go above and beyond the call of duty. AAE member educators are a prime example of what’s working in education today. Their active involvement in advocating for commonsense reform, in trailblazing a more professional path for educators, and of putting students first is inspiring. I’m honored to work alongside such a dedicated group of teacher leaders. I couldn’t appreciate them more!”
