Dr. Allison Greenwood, the Executive Director of the Arkansas State Teachers Association (ASTA), which is a state chapter of the Association of American Educators (AAE). Dr. Greenwood also serves as a Regional Chapter Director for AAE.
Dr. Greenwood has dedicated her career to education, serving as an educator in Arkansas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Her deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education as a means for personal growth and a unifying force for our nation is her driving passion.
Dr. Greenwood's professional journey began as an early childhood teacher in West Memphis, Arkansas. She then became a program manager for one of the state's initial Arkansas Better Chance (ABC) programs. This experience led to her appointment as Administrator of Child and Adolescent Services and Director of Education at Lakeside Behavioral Health System in Memphis, Tennessee. Subsequently, she served as principal/superintendent for 6-12 and K-12 schools catering to children with emotional disturbances and conduct disorders across Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Her extensive management background includes a variety of behavioral health and educational settings, such as acute care, intensive outpatient services, residential care, alternative learning environments, and outpatient offices. Additionally, Dr. Greenwood held faculty positions at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she taught courses in early childhood education, special education, middle level education, and secondary education.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Allison resides in North Little Rock. Her interests include home renovation, painting, outdoor activities, spending quality time with family and friends at the lake, and her continued advocacy for children and educators.
