Chrissy Kavas Thorsen
Regional Membership Director, Colorado
Chrissy Kavas Thorsen serves as the Regional Membership Director for the Professional Association of Colorado Educators (PACE), the Colorado chapter of the Association of American Educators (AAE). In this role Chrissy supports and serves PACE members throughout Colorado and travels throughout the state to introduce many more educators to the benefits of PACE-AAE.
She is a Colorado native, bleeds orange and blue, and is thrilled to be supporting her fellow educators. Growing up in Colorado, Chrissy attended Cherry Creek High School, the University of Northern Colorado for her B.A., and the University of Denver for graduate school. Chrissy spent most of her professional career (18+ years) in the English/Journalism classroom teaching high school students. She was also a sales associate for a local home builder. Chrissy believes that teaching is a noble profession, one with unending opportunity, and the idea of helping educators is one near to Chrissy’s heart. Together, she and her husband have raised their three children in Colorado.
Chrissy’s favorite teacher was Ms. Elyn Shindler, who gave her confidence in her writing, filled her with hope for the future, and reminded her that the classroom can be as much fun as it is educational. She made it enjoyable to go to school every day, inspiring Chrissy to go on and become a teacher herself.
