Books to Help You Start the School Year Off Strong

Across the country, teachers are setting up classrooms, writing curriculum, and getting ready to start the new school year. As teachers it’s too easy to rely on the habits we’ve developed over the years and what has always worked for us, however this time of year that we spend re-evaluating what we do is the perfect time of year to go back to the basics.

The book store is filled with books designed to help teachers perfect the small, routine, and daily interactions. Not every book or technique is for every teacher, but most of them will provide some insight. Even if you’ve read the book in the past, it’s likely that you’ve forgotten a lot of the contents and rereading it will remind you of a strategy that you’ve let fall by the wayside.

That being said, here are some books that will help you hone and perfect your craft as you start in on a new school year:

  1. Classroom Management in the Digital Age by Heather Dowd
  2. The Cornerstone: Classroom Management That Makes Teaching More Effective, Efficient, and Enjoyable by Angela Powell Watson
