Ms. Christi Bello, a teacher at Northfield Elementary in Ellicott City, MD, was awarded a scholarship by the Association of American Educators Foundation to attend the International Search Institute Conference in Austin, TX. The funding offset the costs of registration and travel expenses for the conference. AAE Director of Professional Development Jill Newell visited the Baltimore suburb personally to deliver her AAEF certificate alongside her principal.

belloAccording to Ms. Bello, the scholarship will be beneficial to her professional development. "I will transform at-risk and below grade level students into healthy leaders by presenting 'A Tool Box for Creating Assertive Asset Ambassadors' program to my students," said Ms. Bello, currently a school counselor. "Students will be engaged in hands-on activities that they can infuse in their lives right away."

Ms. Bello added that in today's changing world, students need meaningful leadership training now more than ever. Capitalizing on these programs and sessions can be just the ticket to implementing new and exciting ideas.

AAE would like to congratulate Ms. Bello on her commitment to her students. Attending these counseling-focused conferences are sure to reinvigorate her strategies used to work with kids. Fantastic job!
