Ms. Margaret Quirante, a 1st grade teacher at Joshua Tree Elementary School in Joshua Tree, California has been awarded a classroom grant by the AAE Foundation to purchase an Apple iPad for her students. The new tablet computer is being used by Ms. Quirante's drama and dance performance club to create videos and interactive projects.

"Every year students put on musical comedy shows for their peers and families," said Ms. Quirante, both a teacher and the founder and sponsor of the elementary school's drama club. "Obtaining an iPad has provided 60 -100 students at JTES with the chance to create their own photo essays, musical videos, personal visual journals, dramatic recitations of poems and the ability to share their work with other students."

AAEF applauds the dedication that Ms. Quirante has demonstrated in securing funding for her club. Her efforts will benefit her students for years to come. Great job!

AAEF teacher scholarships and classroom grants are competitive awards available to all educators. Apply online to receive up to $500 for professional development or classroom materials. Be sure to mark your calendar for the fall deadline: October 1, 2012.
