Association of American Educators Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week 2020

Mission Viejo, CA – The Association of American Educators (AAE), a national, nonunion, professional association serving educators in all fifty states, celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week May 4 - 8, 2020. This year AAE acknowledges the extraordinary efforts and exceptional lengths that educators nationwide have taken to ensure learning continues for all students during the pandemic. Just as instruction and connection with students and educational communities have transitioned to remote methods and virtual platforms, AAE staff will be celebrating the successes and boundless ingenuity of our members with special thank you gifts of appreciation, meals, and treats awarded on digital platforms rather than in person, as well as hosting festivities, contests, and social media engagement opportunities throughout the week.

Association of American Educators Executive Director Colin Sharkey released the following statement:

“During these challenging times we at AAE have been truly inspired by the many stories of resiliency, professionalism, and heroic efforts that our members and all educators have exhibited with unwavering focus. There is a long way forward with many uncertainties ahead but we remain confident that educators have the determination and vision to always do what is best for their students. We very much look forward to when we can celebrate our educators in person in their schools. We are proud and deeply humbled to continue to serve and support their efforts during this unique Teacher Appreciation Week and every week.”

The AAE Foundation National Teacher Scholarship and Classroom Grant Program has launched a special cycle of COVID-19 Relief Scholarships and Grants for all educators affected by pandemic-related school closures. Applications are now being accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis through May 15, 2020. Application information is at aaeteachers.org/cvgrant.
