National Employee Freedom Week: Association of American Educators Spearheads National Campaign to Promote Teacher Freedoms

Alexandria, VA – Today, the Association of American Educators (AAE) joins with over 40 partner organizations to celebrate National Employee Freedom Week (NEFW), a first-of-its-kind national campaign to promote teachers' rights of association.

Co-created by the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI), NEFW highlights how unionized teachers and other employees often don't know that they have the legal right to opt-out of union membership — and will help educate those employees on their options so they can make the decision about union membership that's best for them.

NEFW is a national campaign with 40 partner organizations in 30 states across the nation.

To celebrate NEFW, the Association of American Educators will be sharing information with educators and stakeholders across the country. This nationwide effort will promote informed decision making and empower educators so that they can select an association that best matches their budget and beliefs.

"We are so proud to be driving National Employee Freedom Week," stated AAE Executive Director Gary Beckner. "AAE believes that teachers, as college-educated professionals, can and will make choices that reflect their values. This pro-teacher movement is a step in the right direction for teacher rights. We must trust our educators to make informed choices."

AAE and our state chapters have all endorsed this empowering week. More information is available at www.EmployeeFreedomWeek.com.
