April 15, 2014, 6:30 pm ET, Webinar, Human Body: Space Adaptations, During this web seminar for educators of students in grades 4-8 participants will receive information about how space affects astronauts and how this research can lead to a better understanding of Earth-based conditions, such as osteoporosis. The three student lessons featured in this topic are "Bag of Bones," "Get a Leg Up," and "O2-How Much?" Seminar participants will learn background information about bone structure and the effects of microgravity on astronauts. They will also receive a guided introduction to the three student activities that provide a firsthand look at the effects of reduced gravity on bones, the fluid shifts in the body, and the amount of oxygen needed to survive.
