Save the Date: National School Choice Week Announces Whistle Stop Train Tour
posted by: Ruthie | December 04, 2012, 09:57 PM

National School Choice Week, a national grassroots movement of education organizations and advocate groups, will be celebrating with a whistle stop train tour from January 25th to February 2, 2013. The tour will include a total of 14 stops, from Los Angeles to New York.

By makings stops in towns across America, National School Choice Week hopes to build support for high-quality educational options for all stakeholders. With one child dropping out of school every 26 seconds, our country is clearly in need of solutions via school choice initiatives. This tour will bring teachers, parents, students, and community leaders together to shine a spotlight on the need for options in education.

The goal of the tour is to demonstrate overwhelming support and demand for school choice, while shining a positive spotlight on the hundreds of organizations, thousands of schools, and millions of Americans working every day to increase access to great schools in our country. AAE is once again thrilled to be signed on in support of National School Choice Week. By hosting events throughout the country, AAE is uniquely positioned to celebrate teachers in all educational settings.

The tour will be made in the National School Choice Week Special, a historic rail car representing the modern day fight for educational equality to important movements that have shaped the American way of life – from suffrage to civil rights. Similar tours were taken in historical movements, and were successful in garnering much support and enthusiasm, making the way for change.

Parents, educational organizations, students, community leaders, and elected officials will host 14 events along the tour's route.

President of National School Choice Week Andrew Campanella stated, "With bold strokes, our generation can — and will — make its mark on the tapestry of our national experience." He continued, "We can secure for our country a brighter and more prosperous future where no child is denied the opportunity to attend the best schools possible."
