Member Mention: Librarian Pursues Ed.S Degree with AAEF Scholarship

Ms. Kimberly Harvey, a librarian at Echols Middle School in Northport, Alabama was awarded a scholarship by the Association of American Educators Foundation to help supplement the costs of attending classes for her Ed.S degree. The courses are part of a graduate program for an educational specialist degree that falls in between the master's degree and the doctorate in education.

harvey"My degree is sharpening my skills in my field and allows me to stay abreast of the latest advancements in my field," said Ms. Harvey, a ten-year veteran of library media. "Technology and information skills are not static fields, so it is necessary for those of us trained in these areas to be diligent in our continuous pursuit of knowledge."

AAEF applauds the dedication that Ms. Harvey has demonstrated in advancing her education and staying ahead of new and emerging technologies. Her coursework is sure to make an immediate impact with her students and school community at large. Fantastic job!

AAEF teacher scholarships and classroom grants are competitive awards available to all educators. Apply online or by mail to receive up to $500 for professional development or classroom materials. The fall deadline has passed, but be sure to mark your calendar for the spring date: March 1, 2012.
